  • *When you want to get the theory done before the end of 2018 but you spent hours looking and calculating Madagascar’s square miles to see how many lemurs would fit*

  • I would love to see a "which superhero killed the most inocent people?" series :D

    • Oh, not again. Let the theory guy rest!!

    • Ooh! I would want to see that!

    • Endeavor from my hero acedemia

    • green lantern

    • @oti nane oti nane can we call him a hero tho

  • 4:56 Now that I'm rewatching this I'm realizing that Mat should've counted the horses too, as Mulan's horse and cricket are definitely sentient

    • I think he counts the horses when counting the horsemen but I could be wrong

    • I got about 1,677 As for the army that was slaughtered, at the time the average military troop for a border issue would be about a few hundred men to a few thousand, I’ll just count for about 500 deaths making the total: *2,177*

    • I think he should counted more for the army that was found slaughtered. No way there was only 30 of them

    • @My_Dolly!. exe NEVER! ÒwÓ xD

    • I guess he didn't count them because the movie is centered on humans, even my dog is sentient so the amount of death would be astronomical at this point. Give the poor man some Disney break 💀

  • 6:30 The Kakamora were essentially sentient coconuts, and coconuts float in water so they may be inconvenienced and maybe even put in danger, but sinking their ship would have directly only killed the ones that died of debris falling directly on them.

    • they'd have no drinking water, so they'd die anyway

    • But for the sake of simplicity. Since we don’t see them anymore in the movies run time. They are most likely dead.

  • They have found lemur fossils in Australia and India as well. Those findings were actually really important and lead to the acceptance of the continental drift theory. So lemur island can really be anywhere along the ancient coasts of those three landmasses.

  • I actually loved Atlantis growing up, it was one of the movies I had on VHS! My male cat is named Milo after the main character too c: It inspired me to take an interest in the legends and history it was based off of, which led to me pursuing a degree in history, and a lasting love of learning about it. I'm admittedly now a dog groomer and not a professor, but I still love history and legends. I had a feeling it was going to top the list, but I didn't expect it to be at the top like that haha!

  • I like how MatPat inexplicably found a plausible way for Atlantis and Hercules to have a crossover

    • .

    • @Tuathla McGuire 💀

    • @CorbCorbin But the people who write the stories were REAL.

    • This channel has taught me that very Disney pixar movie is related is some way or another so I'm not surprised.

    • @Arturo Ayala you tried but both are around the same time

  • I never thought of Chanyu as being based on Attila the Hun. Even as a kid I always thought of Chanyu as being based on Genghis Khan, and the Huns in Mulan actually Mongols.

    • Yeah. I always thought they were Mongols, since there are gunpowder weapons, and the horsemen are attacking China.

  • Can we just appreciate the fact that you just basically gave an extremely highly possible answer to the whole ‘lost city of Atlantis’

  • Can we just appreciate how much effort Matpat puts into each and every one of his videos?

  • I watch these things with subtitles on for clues, misspellings, or just lols, thanks everyone at team theorist! You guys are awesome!

    • Ok one thing subtitles creator for this, darkrai is relatively harmless unless provoked, and it brings nightmares which might be fortellings of a doomsday, described as a never ending bad dream or deep darkness (like mimikyu who just wants to be loved, poor thing)

  • People: How many childhoods are you going to ruin? MatPat: Yes.

  • I loved Dinosaur as a kid, that was one of my favorites... I would watch that on repeat.

  • You do not account for Disney atoning for their holocaust of _Dinosaur_ by making _The Good Dinosaur._ The narrative conceit of that other movie is that the great rock approaches Earth. Approaches... approaches... and misses. All the dinosaurs survive! When I saw this in a packed theater on Christmas Day, I was the _only_ person who laughed after this sequence.

  • From what I remember I'm pretty sure the water doesn't let anyone leave a certain distance of their island without out the heart until after the heart is returned.

  • I've got to say, as a fan of Greek - or rather, Hellenic - mythology, I hated Hercules. It was just awful.

  • Disney fans: "There cant possibly be that much deaths in Disney movies" Matpat: "Hold my Dietcoke"

    • @loonymoony no cause in the movie only like 6 or 5 subsidies die to meteor sooo it's lemurs

    • Like, i knew there was a lot because every Disney movie is like Parents: *exist* Disney: *”let it die, let it die, let it shrivel up and die”* But JEEZ! I didn’t expect it to be this high..!

    • Ikr?! 99% of the classic disney movies I've seen immediately starts off with someone dieing, usually the Mother. I think that's bc Walt Disney never had a mother growing up. But, still, so much death and doom for a kids movie!!

    • I think you mean his merch, “coming out so-“

    • Hold my chainsaw(random encounters)

  • The fact that Disney allowed him to finish this series is amazing

  • To be honest, when I was young, I said that my favourite movie was Atlantis. I put it on non stop. Whenever it came on I would watch it For like five minutes…

  • Good job, Mat. Keep up the good work.

  • Omg he’s solving Atlantis now- How far has his theories come? It’s been sooo long

  • Zoologist popping in. Love this series! FYI there are lemurs that live in arid climates of Madagascar like the sifaka. And there are tiny lemurs that need tiny ranges, that have ranges that cover the island without regard to ringtails. There are over 100 species of lemur, many widespread and differ by food habits so their ranges can overlap. So there there could be so many more lemurs! Of course this is a really weird point in history and who knows what species were around at the ambiguous time of the movie. Also you put zabomafoo on the ringtail lemur slide and he’s a sifaka. 😂 Awesome and well researched vid as always! Just nitpicking.

    • @Jayden Coulton Actually mammals were around with the dinosaurs, they just still laid eggs.

    • What is an average salary of a zoologist

    • +NightmareCow108 Cow The movie is called Dinosaur, not The Land Before Time.

    • Yeah, I thought Zooboomafoo was a different species of lemur.

    • not to mention this was before humans you know killed most of the lemurs and cut down most of the forests. So prehistoric lemurs were probably way more populated, not to mention that a meteor storm like that would probably kill way more than 300000 and the famine would have killed a ton as well.

  • I love how he just brushes off the fact that he found out where Atlantis is.

  • Mammals have existed since the Late Triassic, the very first era of the Mesozoic. They're only slightly younger than dinosaurs. Despite Aladar being shown living at the end of the Cretaceous, Iguanodon was actualy an Early Cretaceous genus.

  • I would love to know if there’s any theory material in Prince of Egypt. It’s probably my favorite movie….ever

  • Seriously matpat the best type of content you can have on this channel as of now(other then the backrooms) is a DreamWorks/Pixar death count, so please do it.

  • I love how the film theorist just solves the mystery of Atlantis and just casually moves in like it was nothing lol

    • Poyo!!!

    • @mxviii it was a joke

    • Not really. He just used a historical apocalyptic event to try and determine the numbers for a fictional one. Santorini and Minoa are not Atlantis as described by Plato. The city of Atlantis may or may not exist. There is a ruined ancient city in north africa for example that matches the description of Atlantis in Platos works, but its not underwater.

  • Actually there's some proof that a asteroid struck a place highly beloved the lost city of altaltis Infact a lot of nuclear glass was found in the area along with normal erosion showed advanced structures that date almost 10 thousand years old

  • I respect the man who made the subtitles, there's a ton of unnecessary stuff, and i love it

  • I’m pretty sure what we see in Hercules is actually the event what in mythology was Hera, Zeus’ wife, releasing the titans. And not the titanomachy, as that happened way way earlier. Small nitpick from a mythology nerd but I thought I would help some propel

  • I remember watching these videos when they came out, hard to belive its been 3 YEARS

  • These were amazing! Id love to see you do Pixar, but you deserve a break. Take some rest matpat. And thanks for a great series of theories

    • Much like Sakurai from how much time, money, blood, and sweat Sakurai had shed onto Super Smash Bros Ultimate, I agree. You basically deserve a break. DO NOT... LET... THE FANBASE... RULE YOUR LIFE.

    • One day some day. My animations will be on here.👌 love this shi#

  • I haven’t watched Atlantis in 3-4 years, and I wanted to watch it but forgot the name. I’m so glad I watched this video

  • "Hercules kills the Hydra-" Me: Isn't the Hydra immortal? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure one of the heads are immortal. How could it die with one head left?

    • The hydra was killed in the OG myth by Heracles burning the neck stump after he cut off the head. Then, when he had successfully prevented all of the heads from growing back, I think he stabbed it? I can’t quite remember how it ended

  • My guess at the beginning was Atlantis (I study mythology for a living and Atlantis is one of my favorite myths and movies) but now I feel stupid because Dinosaur was literally had extinction level event🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Of course it wins

  • I'd give everything for matpat to be my history teacher

  • I feel like Mat is a kind of guy who could cure cancer, but spends his time making theories

  • Journey to Atlantis was and still is my favorite Disney movie.EVER.There's also a 2nd one(not as good but decent.)

  • Going back and watching this, we are still waiting for either Pixar or DreamWorks MatPat! (honestly, I'd prefer Pixar next so we can continue into the extended Disney Universe)

  • Looking back on this video, I dont feel like you did Moana justice. You calculated the distance from ground zero to Moanas' island to find its speed, but that's assuming it travels at consistent speed and ALSO over the surface of the water, instead of the more sensible option, on the ocean floor. If you factor in the massive altitude changes of the ocean floor, I feel like the distance that the curse would have to travel would increase quite a fair amount. Aswell as this, I feel as if your assumption of the years between generation is a bit farfetched. You blatantly ignore that this is a community without modern medicine, nor modern scientific advancements. This, with exceptions of course, would decrease the expected life span. With a shorter lifespan comes a younger entry into adulthood. This would lead to people having children sooner, aswell as taking over roles of command earlier, so a new chief every 20 years to me seems a bit too much of a stretch out of plausibility. Finally, you ignore the idea that the chieftains might have just died early. If you look at history, people in power and leadership roles are usually targeted by people who want that power. Also, generally, leaders in the pacific islanders vast cultures were leaders by example. Things such as exploring a new island with a plethora of ways to die an unlucky death are highly common. I rest my case, good sir.

  • When Matpat first put out this idea, I was like it had to be Dinosaur. How could u ignore a giant rock crushing thousands of creatures.

  • I probably learnt the most about ancient history and mythology in this 27 minutes than in my entire school life so far. 😮 As usual - thanks, Matpat! 😁

    • dude it was a joke chill

    • StrawberryManiac14 you probably didn’t unless ur in elementary school

  • I just wanted to add Encanto to this list, which was released even 3 years later than this video According to the setting of the film, the war cause Encanto formed was "thousands day war" with a death count of ±120,000 people (not including the war that was not shown in the film in 50 years) So what's the nomination Encanto win?

  • My first guess was Atlantis, so pretty happy. Also, just because I can, you forgot all the horses in Mulan. Unless we're going with speech as the defining feature of intelligent life...

  • I would have thought that many more would have killed by the Darkness since some of the tribes in the setting were water phobic and wouldn't see it coming since boats wouldn't go out to spot it.

  • 15:00 This is that moment when Matpat starts to explain biggest secrets of history

  • I like how MatPat went through 344,031 deaths just to pick his favorite one.

    • @A jolly duck omg if James had done that on here out of no where i would have died

    • Ikr? #samenamegang

    • As well as the most twisted death and most tragic death

    • @Andrew Philip I just thought it would be a funny comment; I wasn’t being serious.

    • they aren't individual deaths. he went through 80 something movies.

  • I know I'm late to the party, but I'd support a DreamWorks death count. I want to see how MatPat counts the "they've killed hundreds of us... and we've killed thousands of them" quote from How to Train Your Dragon

  • Wow, I watched Dinosaur all the time as a child... can't believe it ended up being so famous

  • love how he forgot the well of souls when herc saves meg lol easily like over 100 souls.

  • i loved the movie atlantis and treasure planet, i wish they got more

  • "When one dies, it is a tragedy. When a million die, it is a statistic" - Stalin, but also Disney

    • @no-mads21st I guess that makes senses... but that happened IN gensokyo only, remember that the last episodes the rest of the kaiju invaded other countries and just like the titans started breaking house, aka. The world of man got stuck in the middle again, and it does makes the numbers big again, just watch episode 4 and 5 of the 19 episode of kkhta and you can see how much the kaijus has caused panic and destruction. plus, the kaijus were also extinted too as well some moon bunnies during reimu and marisa vs yorihime fight on episode 7 of the part 19. and let's not forget the bloodbath of Koishi during episode 14, 15 and 16. as well reimu's past on episode... 19 part 2-ish.

    • @Arturo Ayala late a year but probably not much tho. Like gensokyo so small, relatively. But humans are minority so say like 10000 spread. And yokai being majority but might still not make it to 500k

    • It’s actually a few deaths is a tragedy a million is a statistic

    • Bro that my fav quote

    • They’re literally both the same, a tragedy and a statistic

  • i did a history project on santorini before!!! its so cool to see it talked about!

  • Mat: We'll also assume that Moana didn't sleep at all Moana: Has nightmare during movie while very clearly sleeping

  • Did you know in Tarzan, you can see the villains dead body hanging from the vine in a flash of lightning?

  • For Mulan if you can estimate the time period figure out the amount of soldiers plus what you figured out that's the amount (it was stated that the people in the parade at the end were the last soldiers)

  • Matpat: Intends on calculating body counts of Disney Movies Also Matpat: Casually uncovers the mystery of Atlantis at the same time likes it's not big deal.

    • @Dracone1024 You seem fun...

    • Dracone1024 wow you must be the best at parties

    • @Dracone1024 You must be fun at parties

    • yeah, he is no way a historian, so i wouldn't go thinking he is right at all.

  • Can't wait to hear about the legend of a young heroine fighting against the evil Mr Perez O'Dent 😁

  • Wow! I had completely forgotten about dinosaur until you mentioned it brings back so many childhood memories lol.

  • In the Moana-book it says that Maui stole Te Fiti's heart one thousand years ago, but that's not when Moana's forefathers landed on Motunui. They could no longer sail because of the darkness destroying the islands so I would assume Motunui was the furthest island they could find so they settled there 300 years ago. Tala also tells monsters were killing the voyagers on the sea so it was no longer safe to sail and find new islands.

  • I love the Atlantis movie and counting the beginning deaths, I would be correct. Atlantis wins!

  • Wish we had a sequel to this with the Pixar films

  • The Hercules movie makes my Greek mythology obsessed lady made me angry. It is terribly inaccurate, and I could go on for hours about how inaccurate to the original myth.

  • MatPat: *Calculating the death count of your fav. characters* Meanwhile the music in the background: :D

  • Now I wanna make a really famous movie based off of absolutely nothing in this world and is 100% fictional in every sense with no relation to anything, even mythology and other fictional books/stories, and with plot points that don't add up and easter eggs that ruin any and all theories like fnaf just so matpat can struggle with trying to do research when making theories im sorry but not really luckily for him im not smart/creative/talented enough to produce a whole movie on my own lmao

  • Everyone: Dinosaur is the going to be the most deaths because all the dinosaurs died. MatPat: Yes, but no

    • lmao, imagine if infinity war was counted as a disney movie, over a trillion/billion deaths, shown and said during the movie

    • Yeah but like REALLY though! LOL!!! He really do be like "Well yes but actually no"

    • But what about the huge amount of dinosaurs that lived on madagascar? Madagascar was home to a lot of unique dinosaur species like majungasaurus, masiakasaurus, rajasaurus and indosuchus! (There are more but those are the ones i could think of) That astroid would definetly have killed those aswell!

    • Well yes but actually no but actually yes

    • It should have most deaths

  • 10:26 If we could base ourselves in the universal expansion, the start is wildly fast, but, slowing bits by bits, if we could set billions of yrs to hundreds, we could think we would have a weird explosion like expansion, then a fast slow down, making all population living near it die almost instantly, so i don't think I'd be 1220, but much, much bigger numbers, like 20000? ish?

  • MatPat: Onward to 2019! Me watching this in 2022: I can firmly say, just stay in 2018

  • Actually in Hercules it says over 5000001 souls in the underworld

  • In defense of Mulan, irl she would've absolutely been killed if discovered as Xiran Jay Zhao pointed out. AND, she didn't exactly fall in love with Sheng until the very end, she was loyal to her orginal goal until then.

  • Yikes, I’ve never seen Atlantis, but that one scene where the people were pounding on the bubble was actually really disturbing

    • It is probably the best movie Disney’s made.,. I absolutely love it and implore you to watch it

    • Same, I’m gonna go watch it right now though

    • Please watch it it's a really underrated movie I'm just trying to enrich your life

    • @Kallee Damant We even get a modern version of that in the ship. When Audrey closes a door to block a flooding tunnel, you can see three guys running down it. Only two get to the other side. So the third guy drowns before the ship explodes.

    • It was really hard to watch ;-;

  • You know you had a sad childhood when you already knew Dinosaurs would win😂😂

  • An idea for a theory is how historically inaccurate Hercules the movie is🙂 ps, I love your Theorys

  • Imagine if MatPat did the same for marvel movies

  • You have no idea how hard I had to look to find this third installment. It’s not in the Disney theory playlist. Had to look in the video section of your Channel. You might want to update and add this to the Disney theories playlist to save everybody time. You also might want to add links to each video in description below each of video to help save time so everyone can find it.

  • I'd love a Pixar continuation, but I'm worried about your health.

  • I'd love to see a marvel movie death count

  • You gotta admit the ice monster from hercules is pretty cool

  • I’m wondering if I missed the death count of Tarzan in this trilogy? There’s at least 53 deaths there

  • No wonder Hercules is Goku of Disney, Wreck It Ralph is Ryu of Disney and Samson is Amidamaru of Disney
