  • This movie was literally something out of my greatest dreams, and yet it was still even better than I could've imagined. Willem Dafoe was astounding in this movie

    • @Dunkirito yes that’s true I love this movie so much because all spidermen get together, it’s all I’ve ever dreamed and more but as more u think about it and as more u watch it u realize the movie itself was very flat and some things just doesn’t make sense. Actually this whole accident with doctor strange wouldn’t have happened. Since when does Doctor Strange just jump without thinking into something? That’s not Doctor Strange. He would have had a whole conversation with peter about what does peter expect from that spell, about the risks and everything. And the moment the spell went out of control he would have stopped it. Who is this man?

    • First I thought I must have wrote this comment and forgot that I wrote it because these are exactly my words!!

    • Meh.

    • Ok

    • Ok

  • Actually, the Dock Oc point fixes one of my biggest problems with the movie Doctor Octopus is from, that being why he had to drown himself with the machine. The answer is, because he knows his ability to control his arms is temporary and if he doesn't drown himself he will revert to a villan eventually. Now he doesn't have to drown himself with his machine.

    • To me the reasons he drowned himself with the machine was out of the guilt for the things he had done

    • @Nekolu You're trying to fit two things together that don't go as when SM2 was written we didn't know he'd get taken to another timeline and end up with Stark's arc reactor tech. Anything else is like trying to fit a square into a circle slot as you're retroactively trying to make it fit.

    • @Redwald Cuthberting hold up he saw his sun machine idea realized as the arc reactor in no way home. He would know how to fix the mess he caused with the knowledge of the arc reactor, especially if Peter and Otto had a little chat offscreen after the battle on the Statue of Liberty. Plus his tentacles are now under his control instead of just Otto winning the fight against his inner demons for a while like in SpiderMan 2. I think he would have enough knowledge and experience to jump back and fix the problem and save himself from his death. He subdued electro who was fully utilizing the arc reactor by grabbing that mf by the chest

    • 'It can't be stopped it's self sustaining now... Think! Unless... The river! Drown it! I'll do it.'

    • The machine had to go down, to be stopped, someone had to do it.

  • I think it’s very possible the reason only the villains showed up is because the other characters didn’t draw attention to themselves, it’s a bit easier to point out someone with 4 giant mechanical arms than, say Mary Jane

    • @quincyking010 in venom 2 venom mentions in the post credit scene he can see things across the multiverse meaning the venom from sam rami spiderman 3 thats how tom hardy venom knew

    • Ok

    • @quincyking010 I would say "Hive-Mind" and "Remembers Tobey from another universe" But it was confirmed by literally Sony that Spider-Man exists in Venom's universe. Still, he knows the secret identity thing via hive-mind but welp.

    • @Bentley Bassett the first few minutes of this very video 😂

    • @Render oh yeah, I thought I saw that somewhere, kinda forgot where tho

  • Can’t wait for the horror movie spin off: “ Spiderman: *I’m in your home* “

    • Spiderman: I'm in your walls

    • OK imma burn down my house now on the off case that might happen theoretically. And the next one and so on and so forth oh nevermind I'll just live in my car. Until I also burn it down on the off case that may theoretically happen and so on and....... then I'll get a really good lawyer who will say I don't actually have a case.

    • @rengoku Spider-Man Homeless

    • Na bro it's insectboy no more home

  • something dark I noticed: If Aunt May didn't die, Peter would have it even worse as due to the spell making EVERYONE forget who Peter Parker is, meaning his own AUNT wouldn't know who he was.

    • @joshua powell he asked specifically that everyone forgot him, not that he's spider man, just that he's himself

    • @joshua powell and mj knew him before she knew he was spiderman, qnd prolly before he was ever spiderman at all. Aunt may would've forgotten his entire existing too then

    • @joshua powell ned was peter´s friend before he was spiderman

    • Wouldnt she know peter just not that hes spiderman. Ned happy and mj relationship to peter was through spider man. Aunt may already knew peter way before.

  • I don't necessarily think it would be unethical to force a cure onto Green Goblin. The Green Goblin is not Peter's patient. Norman is. And Norman definitely wants to be cured.

    • @vermicious knid the original Raimi film made it clear that the Goblin Serum created the personality that is the Green Goblin. I imagine Peter would have factored that into his reverse Goblin Serum, especially if the effects of the Serum creating the Goblin are purely chemical. It could theoretically remove the Goblin Identity from Norman entirely.

    • @Jorilys Matos good point on Electro, but I'm not going to go so far as to say the Goblin isn't a person. The initial serum drew out his darker half, making him more aggressive and paranoid, but that did eventually develop into an additional personality. He clearly suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder, and each identity that someone with DID develops (usually as a coping mechanism) has its own thoughts and feelings. People are so absurdly complex and to claim a second personality isn't a person is somewhat disingenuous. We still don't really know what makes a person a person, and as such it's a stretch to think the Goblin isn't at least a consciousness separate in many ways from Norman.

    • Not only that the Goblin isn't a person, it's an alter ego. So saying he didn't want to be cured isn't really an argument. And Electro was created by an accident, you can chalk up his attachment to his powers to PTSD or C-PTSD. He feels he needs the power to be seen, to defend himself from his pov. What he really needs it's therapy.

    • I'm not sure if the Green Goblin is gone. Peter may have neutralized the goblin serum but what what if the Goblins still in Norman's head waiting for the perfect time to make his move?!

    • Agreed

  • I felt that "curing" the villains was effectively more of just taking away a deadly weapon from someone who had a history of violent crime

  • Yeah, this was my one main complaint here. Except! Doc Oc. armed with the information that he did die and how, Along with presumably the core from the printer stands a chance of shutting it down safely. Goblen being sane means he won't fly his glider into himself. Also means his son survives in theory. Electro without the power to pull all that electricity and overload himself may survive. Lizard is a wash as he survives and is cured anyway. And Sandman lives but is just not mutated. Oh and some of the missing characters may have been there but just lost or hiding as Venom was.

    • If I'm being honest, I was really disappointed to find out Venom would not be included

  • I always assumed the memory spell worked by merging existing alternate reality in an adaptive way that would fit the requirement. That would allow the writers to make easy retcon for upcoming stories and would also explain why it ends up messing up the multiverse.

  • If I remember my comics right, they could be continuing the Civil War plotline connections where everyone's memories are still "there" just blocked. In a couple instances (the one that stands out in my head right now is the Human Torch) people spent enough time around Spidey after the spell that they began to realize that they used to know his true identity, but can't remember it now. Once he revealed his true identity, all the memories came back. Physical evidence was marred (a statue of him somewhere had the face become weathered to the point of being unrecognizable), so it could be that the full Mysterio video exists, but when he says "Peter Parker" the audio is muffled, or it glitches, or gets hit with insane compression artifacts so that the name is no longer recognizable. It wouldn't be the exact same as the comics, because (again, if I recall correctly) Peter Parker still had his personal connections, as did Spider-Man, it was just the link between them that was obscured, but it's close enough that I think it may be at least the vibe the screenwriters were going for.

  • The saddest news is the fact that everything Sony related won't be connected to the MCU as you've said. They just teased us to mess with our feelings.

    • I hope Disney doesn’t get him. Look at Phase 4 outside of this movie, all awful. They’re on the decline and they don’t need to ruin Spider-Man too

    • Hears the thing though at the end it shows him with the vulture suit but who knows sony might just if put this in to mess with us

    • @Will Brown God loves you and Jesus died on the cross for your sins

    • The Venom from the Venom movies is better left outside of the MCU to be honest. And with a part of the symbiote in the MCU universe now, they can revamp the character again.

    • Yea

  • Also, while casting the spell the first time, Peter told Dr Strange, that Aunt May, MJ (girlfriend) and Ned ( best friend) should still know, so basically, they were taken out of the equation

  • Also for those who confused Peter had to swap out his suit because the system remembers him as Peter Parker not Spider-Man but she knows he's Spider-Man but mainly knows him as Peter Parker if that makes sense which is why he was in a different suit at the end of the movie

    • He just wanted a fresh start, to be his own person not iron man jr. No more stark tech and gadgets.

    • @Zipper Fingers Peter lost his suit because the suit recognizes him as Peter Parker not Spider-Man and in the movie at the end everyone and every sentient being forgot who Peter Parker was.

    • Nah that didn't make sense.

  • That was highly appreciated. I also thought the enemies still died and wasn't too put off by that. Thought it was cool, tragic irony the characters never considered. But the VERY end? Does he have an identification? Did he never go to their school? Was everything erased? How does she have the necklace? I really, REALLY appreciate you offering really sound possible explanations for that! 🥰

  • Doc Oct was still a bad guy when he had him by his throat. the lizard wasn't cured yet, and Osbourne wanted to be cured, it was the Green Goblin that didn't want to be cured. It's all about when in their timeline they were pulled into Holland's universe. Clearly, they were pulled from different points in time from their universe.

  • If you go by how the spell works in the comics, then everything makes sense. In the comics, the spell isn't a one time erase, but rather a permanent block. In the comics, when somebody is reminded of something that was wiped, the spell blocks them from re-learning it. So based on the comics, Mysterio's footage would still exist but if anybody watched it again, the spell would block their brain from actually retaining the information so after re-watching any footage that connects peter to spider-man, they would just immediately forget it again. That's why MJ still has her necklace and peter can get an apartment, because nothing physical has changed, people are just now brainwashed into being incapable of being able to remember blocked memories.

    • Well then, Peter can just swing everywhere without his mask if people would just forget his existence every second

    • This reminds me of the Mist from the Percy Jackson series.

    • @king assasin Just forgetting the video wouldn't work. 1] Adrian Toomes figured out Peter was Spider Man before the Mysterio video. 2] There would still be the risk that at some point someone would be able to make the connection that Peter is Spider Man.

    • What about new ones? Could MJ fall in love with Peter a second time and make "new" memories with him?

    • @Joe Waters makes sense 👍

  • Norman Osborn was saved, there's no way he could have been sent to the MCU with his helmet or glider otherwise. You see, the goblin was killed when he had them off way before he killed himself fighting spiderman. So he had time to explain what happened to his peter.

  • It was a great movie, Willem Dafoe was fantastic, and Tom Hardy plays Venom SO WELL

  • One thing that was left out was the look on MJ's face AFTER Peter leaves the coffee shop when he stops himself from bringing up any memories he had written down. You see her get that look on her face as though she DOES recognize him but not sure WHERE FROM. We all know that type of expression: the "I KNOW them from SOMEWHERE, I just can't remember where." Or that "I've seen their face BEFORE, but WHERE?!?" look. So there IS something that the new spell DIDN'T entirely remove. Ned never physically SAW Peter so his memory hasn't been jogged yet. But MJ's HAS to some small degree.

  • Something that has bothered me since seeing this movie, is if everyone was entering Tom Holland's universe because they knew Peter Parker, does that mean when he wished that nobody knew Peter Parker existed that the entire multiverse was effected in this way? If that is the case, then peter parker will be forgotten in every universe which changes the story of every character that has ever been tied to Peter Parker. Just a thought lol

    • No

    • I don’t think so because the spell happened in mcu peters timeline and not Tobey and Andrew’s. I have two theories. 1. Since doctor strange casted the spell that everyone would forget mcu Peter, that means they had to go back because they know Peter Parker is Spider-Man and they don’t belong there because they know that. 2. The spell affected them too but not in the sense that peter Parker is forgotten in their reality but, the reason they where able to go back is because they don’t know who mcu Peter is anymore and they don’t have any memory of him and the reason they came to mcu peters timeline is because he’s Peter Parker and because they don’t know him anymore they have no other reason to stay. I wonder what they’ll do with mcu Peter after the movie like if mcu Peter will still remember them and aunt May’s death. Wouldn’t he have been pulled into one of the other Peters timelines if he didn’t forget them?

  • I literally just got out of the theatre the timing with this video was perfect lmaoo

    • Only the uneducated Spider-Man lover trolls thought this was good when clearly it was not if you were paying attention to it. Mess up number 1, this is 100 percent fan service instead of a enjoyable movie which kills a lot of things. Mess up number 2, they made Dr. strange look stupid when clearly he is smarter than Spider-Man and can prevent him from escaping and take box away from him like it’s nothing. Mess up number 3, Only in Kevin Feige’s dumb little mind that Spider-Man can beat Dr.Strange in his own dimension lmao. Mess up number 4,This movie is really all about Spider-Man getting into MIT which is definitely a dumb way building this plot around. Why didn’t he just go to another college? Not difficult to do lol. Mess up number 5, the pacing in this movie is atrocious and it drags on during multiple parts for way to long and the action in this movie was so bland.mess up number 6, what was the point of curing the villains, only just to send them back to their time line and die? It just doesn’t make any sense lmao.

    • 2022 is your year, 📣 _"Make sure the money works for you, don't let the money work you! "_ *🔍 BLACKPINK Lisa - MONEY* 🎵 : Hip-Hop 🎵power up

  • This could easily have a part two, so many more questions. Also you could argue that the villains did survive if they weren’t from the previous movie universes but ones that very VERY closely resembled them. But HEY that’s just a theory, a *FILM* theory. Thanks for reading.

  • 6:50 Villains are forced to go to prison too. Isn't the whole idea of a prison so that villains will be changed and can start over after their sentence? Using a chemical instead of waiting for many years and hoping for the best seems like a significantly better option for everyone else.

  • I’m so excited to see how they’re going to continue Peter Parker’s character. I personally think one of the avengers (or the guardians of the galaxy) are gonna drag Spider-Man back (because he’s still an avenger) and Spider-Man is going to fight with them again. Maybe dr strange will remember who Spider-Man is. The avengers at some point are going to know who Peter Parker is, and how he was associated with Tony Stark. I’m super excited for Peters new role in the MCU

  • I know I’ll probably sound greedy but wish we could have had every villain any of them have faced in the movies so far, potentially even both versions of Harry (although I’d pick the original if made to choose to have a team up with his dad), and even Venom although he popped up at the end. Mysterio and Rhino. The movie is just about perfect regardless and if they had to cut any villains out, I say they chose they right ones.

  • To be fair, Peter isn't the reason they got into MIT. He's the reason they may have gotten BACK into MIT after they were rejected because they knew him. He never existed, leaving it to reason that they got in the first place.

    • That's the issue with this movie though, not the people watching it since it acts like it did a time rewind, but the current actions should still have been done. I feel like the mysterio video would still make it so everyone dislikes spider man regardless of if his name is in there or not, unless that video just doesn't exist because mysterio doesn't know his true identity, but i like to think he still tries to frame him, the news shows it as such, and people still dislike him. And at some point they would be linked to spider man since they'd probably still have knowledge of helping spider man, just not who he truly is. I just feel like it's weird that we're getting a part 2 to "peter parker doesn't listen to people when they tell him something" after what happened in the last movie but i guess he is still a highschooler so i can't blame him for not listening to Dr strange right? Someone he came to for help because he didn't know who else to turn to and knew could fix the problem.

    • @Frojj Wizard how is Peter?

  • This all could’ve been prevented if Peter just requested that everyone forgot who Mysterio was and everything he said, so know one would remember him revealing Spider-Man’s identity🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @ItsChineseGuy lmao

    • @ItsChineseGuy BAHAHAHAHAH

    • Spiderman: No movie needed Would've been a quick ILaward short

    • True but that's what Parker _wanted_ to happen, even if he didn't say it that way. There was no reason Strange ought to have taken the request completely literally when the problem was just that video, utterly no excuse for him to wait _mid cast_ to clarify what he was supposed to be doing, and he expressly knew that changing a spell that can destroy reality six times midway through was completely insane. Parker on the other hand knew practically nothing about magic beyond that it exists and can do unspecified things. He didn't even have a reasonable expectation that Wong's warning was a big deal since Strange used it to erase an embarrassing party.

  • But Peter doesn't need that GED book at all, he's a genius.

    • i assume he has it, just to look authentic.

  • Great movie!! Might I also add, the spell brought the villains who knew Peter Parker was Spiderman… So how did Eddie Brock and Venom get there? Is there a Spiderman in his world we haven’t seen or heard of?

    • The symbiotes have a hive mind so what one knows, they all know, even across multiverses. So because the venom in Spiderman 3 knew, this Venom also was aware of the knowledge even without actually knowing Peter personally

    • @Jay Shirley I may be wrong but I think all the venoms across the multiverse are linked. If one knows spiderman the rest do also. Venom in spiderman 3 would of known spiderman do that could be how.

    • they have Easter eggs in the venom movies that hint at spiderman existing but there has never been confirmation that eddy knows spider man and also knows peter parker is spiderman. hopefully we will get an answer but i doubt it.

  • I think there is one more major problem with this movie. How curing and sending back "villains" to their universes, would affect their realities?? My point is, Dr. Strange failed the spell and bring the "villains" to his universe, that mean that they are from past. And if Peter #2, Goblin, Sandman and Doc Ock are from same universe, and the "villains" are ripped out of their universe, wouldn't that affect future Peter #2 that we see in movie?? Same with Peter #3, Lizard and Electro. I mean, Lizard is ripped out of the past, before being cured. If that would affect Peter #3, he wouldn't remeber that he already cured him once. My problem is, that how could they go to Peter #1 universe, when most of them are already dead?? Cuz both Peters are from present. That would mean, that the spell didn't only destroy the realities and Multiverse but time as well?? I just don't what to think about. Because I think, if they are somehow coming from past, that it would affect Peters. My theory is, that they are all from different universes. Seven universes. Each for one character. "Villain's" are not from past, but their universes. That mean that what is gonna happend and it's happening in their universes, is not affecting Peters. Peters know what happened in the past of their universes. And "villains" are just living it now. I think it make sence. For me. It's just a idea.. so if you disagree, I get it.

  • You missed one thing: MJ and Ned were rejected from MIT because of their association with Spider-Man. With that association erased, they would have been accepted.

    • @Steel Bear Do you really not understand a difference between some random citizen seen with spiderman a few times, vs the whole world knowing shes the gf of his (not)secret identity? Seems like a huge distinction..

    • Yes. It's pretty obvious he walked away out of thinking they seemed safer and happier away from spiderman.

    • WATCH THE MOVIE :D THEY GET ACCEPTED REGARDLESS OF ASSOCIATION BECAUSE PETER SAVED THE CHANCELLOR :D

    • Actually MIT had already sent out the rejection letters. This means that Peter talking to the assistant dean on the bridge to change her mind, meant nothing. All of them are NOT going to MIT

    • @Steel Bear no, they knew they were related to peter parker aka spiderman with peter gone it would be "they knew they were relateed to ????? aka spiderman", continuity sets in and they have no connection with "????? aka spiderman" anymore because reality wouldn't allow it (reality part is my theory but it's kinda like how always these things gets solved, reality sets in and repair the damage itself, that or a paradox is born)

  • As awesome as the trailer looked for this movie, the actual film I believe left us all completely confused. No matter how many theories come up, we're still confused

  • 7:59 She said "With great power, must come great responsibility." Not "With great power, comes great responsibility." 11:02 This was actually the other way around. Happy asked "How did you know her?" Peter Parker then said "Through Spider-Man."

  • You forget that Doctor Octavius was in possession of an arc reactor when he was returned to his reality. I imagine he would have used the device to absorb and contain the fusion reactor’s energy.

  • I know you’ve done a Bee Movie theory before but, hear me out, I think a theory estimating how many bees would actually be needed to hold and fly a plane would be very interesting to watch. (Or if it’s even possible for any amount of bees to do so)

  • Actually, I think the Vulture not knowing Peter's identity probably works out better for us. Originally Vulture wasn't willing to give out Peter's identity. Not only because Peter saved both his and Liz's lives, but also because Liz was affiliated with Peter, which could potentially lead to villains trying to hurt Peter through Liz. But now, all Vulture knows is that Spider-Man put him in prison, and ruined the life of his family. If anything, Vulture has *even more* incentive to take out Spider-Man than he ever did before. No knowledge of Spider-Man's identity = no threat to Liz. No threat to Liz = no reason not to form the Sinister Six and take Spidey out.

    • Asi con toy y sus mañas no se la specialnude.monster hay nomas pa ra reirse un rato y no estar triste y estresado por la vida dura que se vive hoy. • @Jin Kee How is that related?

    • I love this. Even when Peter sends the most dangerous people home the people he couldn’t are now even more dangerous because of him trying to do the right thing. It’s brilliant

  • 11:28-There actually IS an explanation here: during the beginning of Spider-Man: Far From Home, before Peter is heading off to Europe, Peter as Spider-Man is at a special function with Aunt May

  • I always assumed that the spell never did anything physical. That (taking mysterios video as an example) nobody remembers that he outed Peter in it, and - importantly - if they watch it again they will instantly forget Peter the moment they learn about him. His social security number and credit score can be explained by these just being numbers in a computer system, and the people checking them so that Peter can get an apartment don't need memorys of him, they just need to know these numbers exist. Incidently this would make spiderman the only superhero with a completely bulletproof secret identity as the knowledge that he is spiderman could never be known so long as Dr strange's magic continues to protect it

  • I think that the villains both come from and go back to different universes from those we saw in the previous movies. That explains the minor inconsistencies about them dying fighting Spider-Man or knowing his identity, and allows them to go back to their universes as cured people without messing with the timelines of Raimi's Spider-Man or Amazing Spider-Man.

  • @The Film Theorists: All of the villains cured will go back to their universes with clean slates... for some of them. Since the spell pulled them from their universes at different timelines where they found out Spider-Man's identity, it would be safe to suggest that when they return, they're overall outcome would now change, regardless of their redemption. Connors' would come sooner than later, because he found out Spider-Man's identity when he finds Andrew's/Peter Parker's camera that literally says "Property of Peter Parker". Now, if the cure is in his body, and it's designed to prevent him from turning into the Lizard again, implying that if Connors tried the serum again, it would backfire... And all the events following from that specific timeline would have never taken place, for example, Gwen's father finding out Peter's identity nor getting killed by the Lizard. Osborn would've never died because, the cure rids him of the Goblin and any effects it had on him. No more battle would take place between Norman and Toby/Peter. And any of the events that transpired after that would never happened either. Doc Ock could still die, seeing as how he sacrificed his life to stop his machine, and, that option might still have taken place if Ock and Peter couldn't figure out else to do. And as for how NWH ends... It seems as though it's a plot to help Sony separate Spider-Man from the MCU gradually. If no one from the MCU can remember Peter Parker, then there's no reason to interact with him. Or, my favorite theory, the Spell actually transported Peter to a similar universe (Like we've seen in Rick and Morty) where some things are a bit different. Maybe a universe where no one knows Peter, but, in this universe, there are no Avengers either. No Tony Stark being Iron Man, maybe even no Thanos coming to Earth. Everything MCU related is gone because this Peter is in a Universe where "They" don't exist. He's in a Universe where specific people don't know, or have never met a Peter Parker (meaning MJ, Ned, Happy, and even Falsh Thompson). Aunt may is still dead, but maybe for another reason. It's a possibility.

  • "Peter had a hand in MJ and Ned getting into MIT" Well, no. Sure, Peter convinced the MIT selection people to let Ned and MJ in after they were rejected, but without Peter, they would never have been rejected from MIT in the first place. They were rejected due to their connections with Peter Parker. Without those connections, they would have been accepted from the beginning.

    • But they didnt go back im time dude

    • Only the uneducated Spider-Man lover trolls thought this was good when clearly it was not if you were paying attention to it. Mess up number 5, the pacing in this movie is atrocious and it drags on during multiple parts for way to long and the action in this movie was so bland.mess up number 6, what was the point of curing the villains, only just to send them back to their time line and die? It just doesn’t make any sense lmao.

    • @BakedXavierPlympton666 Right, but we aren't forgetting Mysterio here. Quentin Beck still exists. We're forgetting about Peter Parker.

    • Well without Mysterio that would not have been an issue

  • I forgot how deep matpat’s theories were, never thought of this 😵‍💫

  • Okay, I always believed the change of mind for Dr. Octavius at the end of the old spider movie was weird... this movie fills that gap for me, Dr. Octavius went to the other universe during that battle, got cured, came back and saved the old Spiderman by sacrificing himself. Also one clue for this is.. when Dr. Octavius sees Tom Holland's face & says "you are not peter" .. so obviously he came back from that exact instance where he had that change of mind which is exactly when he saw Tobey's face.

  • But you can't tell if Doctor Octavius had another way of solving the reactor explosion problem after he was returned to his dimension so we can't really tell if it was worth it or not...and by that I mean worth it for his own good because generally saving him was useful because he helped them deal with Electro

  • okay but I still have a question. when dr strange is trying to hold back the spell from collapsing on the world the multiverse would be open wouldn't it? And if it is and the spell for peter parker to be forgotten, wouldn't that go across to multiverse or is dr strange able to keep the spell on one plain/world because of how simple the spell is ?

  • If they were just seconds from dying, it was pretty much near impossible for them to convince their spiderman that they've changed without sounding like a desperation ploy.

    • @Bee fair bingo nor is it the same spell they could be like Hulks reverse snap. brought to the current time of their universes

    • realistically, otto already was redeeming himself (and would die regardless), and the goblin's act was only seen as a desperation ploy because peter heard the tone change + his choices with the glider is what actually killed him. with this theory, max is also laying on the ground in this part and would also visibly be... not pure energy. sandman was also likely living for years after spiderman 3 before getting transferred over, since he never died. connors' lizard reversal is quite obvious.

    • These ideas create new timelines but dont change the past. What happened stays the same but the are new worlds where villains are powerless. Im using endgame logic by the way. Its the opposite to back to the future plot. You dont change the past, just crest a new future where the thing you did brougth something new, but your future stays the same

    • Norman literally did that in his final moments and peter believed him, if norman actually went good, he could just do the same thing. Ock also did the same thing, except he actually did turn good, and Lizard did too. All I'm sayin is that like this comment is so half baked, you take something that literally happened in three of the movies and claim it's "pretty much near impossible"

  • I started reading comics because of this movie, and I think the next one will be like the comic arc ‘brand new day’ and he’ll be a vigilante. I have some mixed feelings about this because I would like to see him happy, but all the problems, like menace, mr negative, would make a great movie

  • Thing you missed In a post credits scene, venom and brock are teleported back after the events in the movie, but venom leaves a spawn there, so only 99.99% of the spell was completed causing some fragments of the spell to crumble, such as the memory wipe of certain characters, also we now got a symbiote that is not evil from bonding originally woth a bad guy

  • That was my conclusion as well. That people merely forgot about Peter Parker, and MJ still having the necklace because forgetting someone, doesn't mean you no longer have what that person gave you.

  • When Doc Oc goes back he brought an arc reactor with him, also he was in full control of his robot limbs unlike at the end of “Spider-Man 2” where he managed to briefly regain control to destroy his machine. Also Doctor Conners from “The Amazing Spider-Man” won’t have publicly tried to turn people into lizards and will not go to prison or at least not as long.

  • When did the memory erasure happen?

    • i was in space sooo…. it was december 17th 2021.

    • cool

    • what are you talking about? also who is peter parker everyone keeps talking about that guy

    • When did what happen?

    • What erasuer?

  • I sort have a question about the movie: Wouldn’t Vulture and Mysterio still be out there in New York since Vulture was put in jail thanks to Spider Man and Mysterio only wants to reveal Spider Man’s identity because of the tech he had that Iron man repurposed so therefore Mysterio would be alive but more out there to get Iron man?

  • Finally saw the movie so I watched this. The apartment at the end has a real “hole in the wall” vibe that could imply someone will to take rent under the table. It’s still huge for a NY city apartment rented by an 18 year old but that’s the movies

  • the way you explain the memory spell, actually makes sense, it answered all of my questions unlike other youtubers, no offence to them becase they did a good job but you, matpat, did an excellent one

  • tbh, my personal theory for whats gonna happen in MoM is that even though sacrificing peter stopped the multiversal collapse, it was only a band aid fix that strange now has to deal with. Somewhere along the way he is gonna remember peter, remember what they did and realize he has to fix it. at least thats what i think will happen lol

  • The real question: Shouldn't MJ still remember the existence of Dr. Strange? Wouldn't this make it more plausible for her to believe the story about the spell, and so easier for her relationship with Peter to start again?

    • no, because she doesnt know whop she needs to hook up with neither does strange noone to ask

    • But does Strange remember Peter? Was he exempt from the spell?

    • Bad ending

    • Your right. But marvel dousnt want that XD

    • The spell made even doctor strange forget peter, thus means he forgets that he ever helped peter with a spell, so even for dc strange, he doesn't know about peter OR the spell

  • Odd point out, Strange when first talking about the spell with Wong mentions a past time using the spell. It clearly worked because Wong forgot, but not Strange, so does the spell not affect the caster? Or did Strange put his own safe guard for him to remember instead of others?

    • I think in that case Strange cast the spell to only make Wong forget. But this time the spell would make everyone forget Peter which includes himself

  • Here's another thing: It's gonna be quite a shock to the other Peters returning to their own universes with nobody knowing who they are.

  • ScreenCrush, a ILaward channel came up with a similar explanation for the memory wipe. Except the book and Mysterio revealing Spider-Man’s identity remain but people’s memory just sort of ignores it. It’s like when you read a poster and then forget what was on or said in said poster. He goes into more detail and explains it way better.

  • In the comics (supposedly; this is secondhand knowledge), all the things that physically existed that pointed out who Peter is still exists, but you forget immediately after watching it again.

  • Well to be fair, the MIT part could be explained by saying they would’ve gotten into MIT to begin with. The main reason they didn’t was because of the reputation of Peter, not necessarily that they had bad grades. So that one isn’t necessarily Peter’s doing. I agree with everything else though

    • They still got rejection papers physically in the mail though.

    • Ya they where really smart

    • Dear MIT, It would be like sooo super cool if me and my best friends could come to your school. Love, Ned

    • You should do a ghostbusters theory.

    • That’s what I thought

  • i got to say mat, i have never seen a better explained theory so far. Good job

  • I’d love to watch “Spider-Man: Homeless” in the theaters

  • The first thing I said to my friends when leaving the cinemas was, that I am afraid, that Sony will now solo continue Tom Holland's spiderman movies, without the MCU. Since, MJ and Ned are not MCU characters. also it is a good opportunity to introduce Gwen Stacy as a new friend, since you know he doesn't have any. Would be a bit weird tho, that he now knows that in one multiverse he ends up with MJ and in another with Gwen, who also dies because of that.

  • I think the second can be explained very easy. MJ, the Harry's, Gwen and also Gwen's Father were probably in the MCU, but they probably just were too confused about the other universe and they didn't show up. I mean the Harry's could've shown up as Green Goblins, but I think we would have a Green Goblin overload and a villain overload in general. Yes, there are some plotholes, but I think the movie wouldn't have been that good if they tried to close all of them.

  • "That leaves Electro andGreen Goblin, neither of whom want to be cured." True, but what the movie considers important is that Norman Osborne does. In fact, it's his desire to be freed from the Goblin that causes Peter to try to save all of the villains in the first place. Both the Original Spider Man as well as No Way Home make it clear that the Goblin acts as a sort of second consciousness that can take control of the body from Osborne, which leads to the question of who you would rather help, a mentally strained man desperately clinging on to the sanity he has left, or a murderous psychopath responsible for the trauma of the former. The answer is so obvious I shouldn't have to finish this sentence telling you what the right ans- A similar argument can be had for Electro. The ethical nature of your decision becomes rather redundant when dealing with someone who's thrown out ethics to begin with. That and yourself and others will likely die if you don't cure them. Human lives lost tend to be a big factor in decisions like this.

    • @Shia LaBeouf I feel like he just generalizes and glosses over stuff so the theory fits with the wild video title.

    • @Brian Burkhardt yes, toby timelines actually split in more than 2, one where the og trilogy where norman dies and ock dies too, 2] second where norman is cured and goes back to a normal life, but ock becomes a villian 3] third where ock comes back cured but norman still died 4] fourth where norman just disappeared from existance, cause getting pulled from your timeline, will cause a split, one where he did die and another where he just disappeared, putting him back creates another, where he is back cured( the 2] above mentioned) 5] similar with ock, where there was a double split one where he died, and another where he just disappeared and putting him back created 3] one mentioned above.

    • a Scambot Stole your comment by the way

    • My problem with the Electro part is that the whole reason he became violent in this movie was purely because they were going to take away his power. He was able to go through the city to Happy's apartment and sit and talk with Sandman while they were getting all of the science done. After he learns that he probably dies fighting Spiderman, he might be able to go back into society without trying to hurt anyone.

    • and they will be in prison afterwards?

  • As for Peter's living arrangement he can technically get a room for rent without identification. I've rented places before just on a signature and a handshake as long as you were on time with the rent the landlord didn't care.

  • The way I think about this is that many of these villains turned good at the end of their movies, and although it originally wasn't intended to be this way, I think marvel is trying to explain why these villains turned good when they did by explaining that they were cured by Tom Holland

  • The writers said "we wanted people to focus on the emotion of it not the magical maths" and that if questions came up, they'd explain it off in other cinema. Thanks bp

    • @LEGO Verse trust me, it's far from the saddest part. It actually pooped all over spiderman fans and repeatedly spat on them. Hopefully once the wonder woman hype phase blows over people wont just rate it what it deserves but actually attack at Disney for the movie. With words and not fire.. of course

    • Oh. So basically, they didn’t even try to have the “emotion of it” have a solid base in internal logic, and just hoped people would be distracted by having the people from the other movies? That’s depressing…

  • I would love to see a seperate film theory on why electricity is different than the internet

  • I'm honestly not surprised that Spidey and Strange botched the spell, considering Strange is too eager to dive into stuff he shouldn't and is far too used to just "getting things done" so he didn't even consider that Peter might wanna exclude some people. Then, Peter just realizing he has several people he still wants to keep in the loop mid-spell in a typical "my actions are moving faster than my thoughts" way just made for a beautiful recipe for disaster. I do sortof wanna see a alternate script where Peter managed to specify he wanted everyone to forget everything regarding Mysterio, as that'd cover his identity and the false murder charges.

    • HISHE

    • Stephen Strange is a master of magic and one of the greatest heroes in the MCU but if he sees a chance to use powerful magic he's like a kid in a candy store

    • But then he would not be boyfriend with mj

    • @fatty1040 when you panic you don’t think straight

    • "Didnt even consider peter might wanna exclude some people" Bruh that consideration is what caused this mess in the first place, Thats why Dr Strange was mad that he didnt even call the college yet and went straight to magic. Strange thought spidey suffered too much but realized his biggest problem is just an identy crisis and peter not growing up. "Trying to live 2 lives" that was the point of this movie. Crushing peters naive nature and showing us the trailer that dr strange is also living 2 lives.

  • I liked how electro was portrayed. He wasn't necessarily evil He just wanted what he wanted and was willing to do what was necessary to accomplish that. He continuously tells Spider-Man not to make him murderer or don't make him do something he'd regret. He genuinely doesn't want to do it but it's fully prepared to do it. otherwise you wouldn't have said anything he would have just done it

  • If his physical actions stayed then the video would’ve stayed as well Also Aunt May would’ve lived because she wasn’t helping Spider Man save the villains she was trying to save them with peter so if she didn’t know peter she wouldn’t have chosen to try to cure them therefore living another day

  • 11:03 you got the dialogue mixed around, Matt. Happy asks Peter how he knew May. To which Peter replies Through Spider-Man

  • Peter has the spiderman suit on both when he gave MJ the necklace and when he saved the MIT lady which is what changed her mind. Spiderman did both of those things, not Peter.

  • "Why only the villains" Honestly, the plotline I was thinking about during the movie was if Andrew's spiderman finds an alive Gwen and becomes the Star Lord of the film.

    • I was really hoping to see Spidergwen from another universe. Since in Spidergwen's universe Peter Parker dies. It would of been a nice moment between Andrew spiderman and Spidergwen.

    • @VGL Studios Exactly. The Eddie Brock post credit scene of him just chilling at the bar opens the door for any number of characters that could have been spending their time doing just about anything.

    • @VGL Studios Yes agreed.... Eddie and Venom were there too and they spent their time drinking and listening to Avengers Movies summarized 😂

    • Who's to say it was only the villains? The other two Peter's say they'd been wandering around looking for that world's Spiderman since they got here. For all we know some other characters were also transported there, but were keeping their heads down, or weren't sure how to contact anyone. The villains are the ones who would be attracting attention, smashing their way around through the city. That's about the only thing about the whole premise that isn't problematic, there's no requirement for a certain amount of Spiderman characters to be here, Strange stopped the spell before too many of them could get through, these just happen to be the ones who got through. Again, even if there were others, they wouldn't necessarily attract much attention. Captain Stacy from Garfield's movie might have been there, and just spent the day at the Captain America museum or something.

  • I mean I noticed something too while watching this movie. Peter Parker still knows Peter Parker and so the other Peter Parkers would still be there.

  • It makes me ask this one question, One of the Peter parkers said they cured the lizard beford yet the lizard was there, does that mean there'd be alternative universes that only one or few has them cured but most others has them evil still?

  • One question about the spell at the end: Is Tom Holland the only Peter Parker that is affected? The Sam Raimi Trilogy has Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, the Marc Webb Amazing Spider-Man duology has Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has a total of 3 Peter Parkers (Peter B. Parker, Spider-Man Noir Peter Parker, and the 1967 Spider-Man Peter Parker). And that just involves the movies and not taking into account the Peter Parkers from the various TV shows.

  • There's infinite multiverses so they might not be from the multiverses we know. They might all be from multiverses similar to ones we know, but not the exact ones. So doc oc could have had Peter by the throat before his sun thingy was about to expload. And electro could have just know Peter's name without knowing his face from a different scenario. But what would I know
